About AIM

A national coalition advancing the future of medicine through science, policy, and partnership.

Our Mission

Accelerating Innovation In Medicine

AIM — Accelerating Innovation In Medicine — is a national advocacy coalition dedicated to modernizing the regulatory and legislative frameworks that govern botanical medicine, integrative therapies, and emerging biomedical research.

We work directly with members of the U.S. Congress, federal agencies, and leading research institutions to ensure that patients, practitioners, and innovators have a seat at the table when policy is made.

Our coalition represents a broad and growing constituency — from botanical medicine researchers and integrative health practitioners to patient advocates and conventional medical professionals — united by a shared commitment to evidence-based, patient-centered care.

Science First

Every position we advocate is grounded in peer-reviewed research and clinical evidence. We do not advance ideology — we advance science.

Nonpartisan

Health policy transcends party lines. We work with legislators on both sides of the aisle to build durable, bipartisan support for medical innovation.

Patient-Centered

Patients are at the heart of everything we do. Our advocacy is guided by the principle that every American deserves access to the full range of safe, effective medical options.

Coalition-Driven

We are stronger together. AIM brings together diverse stakeholders — researchers, clinicians, industry, and advocates — to speak with one unified voice.

Our Story

Twelve Years of Advocacy

AIM was founded more than a decade ago by a group of researchers, clinicians, and policy professionals who recognized a critical gap: the most promising advances in botanical and integrative medicine were being held back not by science, but by outdated regulatory frameworks.

Since then, we have grown into one of the most recognized voices in health policy on Capitol Hill, building relationships across the aisle and across disciplines to advance legislation that reflects the full spectrum of modern medicine.

Our work on landmark legislation — including the Advancing Botanical Drug Development Act of 2026 — reflects our belief that rigorous science and thoughtful policy can and must go hand in hand.

Leadership

Guided by Experience

AIM is led by a team of seasoned policy professionals with deep expertise in federal health policy, congressional relations, and stakeholder advocacy.

Houton Strategies

Welcome! I am Rob Houton, a father of two and a fighter in the public advocacy and political arena. I have led three national initiatives in the U.S. Congress and harnessed victories in each for America's families. I ran for the United States Senate in Maryland in 2024 and qualified in my campaign to lead the Democratic National Committee (DNC) as Chair in 2025. Each of these campaigns were about fighting for Maryland and America's families. I worked for former U.S. Senator Edward M. Kennedy (D-MA) and have endorsed U.S. Senators, Representatives, and candidates who have demonstrated leadership from both Democrat and Republican parties. CNN, Fox News, The New York Times, MS Now, The Washington Post, Politico, NBC News, ABC News, CBS, and many more media outlets have reported on my leadership and tireless work.

I also lead Houton Strategies. I represent clients whose companies need to establish and grow their business in the federal marketplace. I have led the government relations work and success for Fortune 100 Companies, venture backed startups, national stakeholder trade associations, and every sector in between in my work in the U.S. Congress, the White House, and federal agencies in both Democrat and Republican Administrations for over twenty years.

The greatest value I offer my clients is that I care deeply for their business' success, I fight relentlessly for the success of their goals, and I have proven success in developing and implementing a strategy for each of my clients to achieve their business goals.

Chief of Staff

Houton Strategies

Amber Beidler, MSW, brings a decade of experience spanning healthcare, behavioral health, social work, business development, advocacy, and communications. Her career has given her a unique perspective on healthcare policy — one shaped by working directly with patients and families as well as healthcare organizations and policymakers.

Amber served as a social worker in a Level I Trauma Emergency Department during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic in rural Appalachia, while communities simultaneously faced the escalating fentanyl and opioid crisis. Her healthcare experience has also included working with older adults and vulnerable populations, providing firsthand insight into the barriers patients encounter within complex systems of care. After relocating to Denver, Colorado, Amber expanded into healthcare leadership, business development, and advocacy, including work within a Fortune 5 healthcare company and involvement with multiple community advocacy organizations. She later worked in innovative psychiatry and behavioral healthcare, helping expand access to emerging treatment approaches for individuals with depression and other psychiatric conditions who had not found adequate relief through traditional treatments.

Today, Amber brings this experience to federal advocacy and public policy. As Chief of Staff, she leads strategic coordination, communications, stakeholder engagement, and advocacy initiatives alongside Robert Houton. Her background as a Master of Social Work, former emergency room social worker, healthcare executive, and advocate gives her a firsthand understanding of the human impact behind healthcare legislation — and the importance of turning medical innovation into meaningful patient access.
